About the position

The Human Resources (HR) Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive human resources support across all areas of the organization. This role acts as a vital liaison between the HR department and other departments, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. The HR Specialist will manage a wide range of HR functions, including recruitment and hiring processes, employee relations, compensation and benefits administration, payroll management, and ensuring compliance with HR regulations. The position requires a proactive approach to developing and implementing initiatives aimed at enhancing employee morale and productivity, thereby contributing to a positive workplace culture. In the recruitment aspect, the HR Specialist will be tasked with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring new employees in alignment with established HR policies and procedures. This includes administering employee benefits programs, which encompass various insurance plans such as medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as retirement plans. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records and personnel files is crucial to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, including wage and hour regulations, safety and health standards, and non-discrimination policies. The HR Specialist will also be responsible for responding to employee inquiries and complaints in a professional and timely manner, assisting with employee relations issues, including performance management, disciplinary actions, grievances, and other employee-related matters. Conducting exit interviews and processing all necessary paperwork is also part of the role, ensuring a smooth transition for departing employees and gathering valuable feedback for organizational improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, interview, and hire new employees in accordance with established HR policies and procedures
  • Administer employee benefits programs including insurance plans (medical, dental, vision, and life) and retirement plans
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and personnel files
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, including wage and hour, safety and health, and non-discrimination regulations
  • Respond to employee inquiries and complaints in a professional and timely manner

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • At least two years of experience working in human resources
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to human resources
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and human resources information systems (HRIS)
