About the position

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Human Resources Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing various HR functions, ensuring compliance with policies, and fostering a positive workplace environment. This part-time position requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, while leading efforts in developing and managing our Human Resource Department.

Responsibilities

  • Manage various HR functions and ensure compliance with policies.
  • Maintain employee records and process new hire documentation promptly.
  • Report terminations and manage coverage cancellations.
  • Manage mandatory annual workplace harassment training for all employees.
  • Track employee hours worked, attendance, and vacation time.
  • Handle Department of Transportation compliance and recordkeeping.
  • Issue disciplinary reports and communicate new policies to all departments.
  • Maintain the employee handbook and issue updates as necessary.
  • Manage safety policies and track insurance forms for vendors.
  • Handle recruiting and staffing agency requests.
  • Oversee employee benefits and hold open enrollment annually.
  • Manage company retirement plan recordkeeping and compliance.
  • Oversee selection of company insurance plans and employee benefits.
  • Investigate and monitor workers compensation claims.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Human Resources or related field.
  • Experience overseeing insurance plans and maintaining corporate compliance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle sensitive information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees and management.
