About the position

The Payroll/HRIS Specialist is responsible for maintaining payroll systems and ensuring timely and accurate processing of paychecks. This role involves consolidating timesheet information, entering data into payroll databases, and providing technical support to HRIS users. The specialist will also identify system improvements and manage user permissions and access within the HRIS.

Responsibilities

  • Check timesheets for accuracy
  • Enter data into databases and spreadsheets
  • Handle direct deposit requests and data
  • Process paper checks for distribution
  • Acquire necessary signatures to distribute payroll
  • Process wage garnishments
  • Make adjustments in pay for raises, bonuses, and commissions
  • Process employee data like leaves and benefits
  • Export regular and ad hoc reports from internal databases
  • Create new accounts and manage access permissions
  • Train system users on functionalities and new features
  • Gather payroll data like wages and working hours
  • Update employee records with new hire information
  • Troubleshoot and report technical issues
  • Develop data processing guidelines

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
  • Three to five years experience in a payroll role
  • Experience with HRIS administration
  • Hands-on experience with UKG
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Exceptional mathematical and calculation skills
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with a team
  • Knowledge of payroll, garnishments, and benefits distribution
  • Multitasking abilities
  • Good research and analysis skills
