About the position

The HRIS Payroll Specialist will serve as the functional lead for all payroll and HRIS matters within a leading financial firm in Hartford. This role is crucial for managing biweekly payroll processing, ensuring compliance with payroll laws, and implementing system improvements for efficiency. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and driven to contribute to the company's growth.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of biweekly payroll processing using UKG Pro across multiple states.
  • Resolve discrepancies and ensure timely, compliant payroll delivery.
  • Process, audit, and manage PTO accruals in UKG Time Management.
  • Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws.
  • Act as the liaison with state, local, and federal agencies for payroll inquiries and compliance.
  • Record fringe benefits entries and manage wage garnishments according to federal and state regulations.
  • Provide the finance department with quarterly compensation accruals and support during year-end processes.
  • Act as the functional lead for all HRIS-related projects, analyzing workflows and implementing system improvements for greater efficiency.
  • Create and deliver demographic and financial reports as needed to other departments.
  • Provide friendly, accurate, and timely customer service to employees regarding payroll inquiries.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in accounting, business, or a related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience in payroll processing or as a Payroll Analyst.
  • Certification: CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) preferred.
  • Proficiency with payroll software, particularly UKG Pro and UKG Time Management.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.
  • Highly detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and ability to implement HRIS improvements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
