About the position

Barge Design Solutions is looking for an HRIS & Payroll Specialist. This role serves as administrator for several critical human resources functions including Human Resources Information System (HRIS) administration, oversight and process design of outsourced payroll, leave tracking, employee records, and management of compliance activities. This position has an important role in configuring systems and processes to support a positive employee experience and ensure regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the functional lead of HRIS systems including problem resolution, reporting, and business policy and procedure support
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners to efficiently share HR data so that systems are synchronized. Tracks down and resolves any connection errors
  • Maintains and manages the HR information system to ensure data accuracy and integrity
  • Designs and audits the process for maintenance of employee data in all systems
  • Builds custom reports and analyzes data to provide insights for HR decisions and processes
  • Acts as the primary vendor contact for outsourced payroll activities. Provides guidance to questions asked by the vendor
  • Collaborates with Accounting to ensure payroll practices meet regulatory requirements
  • Audits payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
  • Develops and implements processes for payroll related activities including timecard management and payroll related communication
  • Manages permissions and access to HRIS systems
  • Assists HR staff and employees with system-related questions and troubleshooting
  • Leads implementation of updates and new features in HR systems
  • Manages compliance related activities such as required postings and stays up to date with emerging regulatory changes
  • Serves as the point of contact for our compliance vendor, ensuring we are on track to remain in compliance with Affirmative Action, Vets100, EEO-1, and other annual reporting and help interpret our results and track any follow-up actions
  • Develops tools for tracking employee leave, ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant regulations
  • Works with others on the HR team to develop and deliver training for the HRIS system
  • Identifies unused system functionality and presents opportunities for improvement of business processes
  • Owns Employee Handbook and HR Policy documentation and version management
  • Performs other duties as requested

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in Human Resources minimum, 4+ years preferred
  • Experience with payroll processing required
  • Experience with HRIS administration desired, experience with ADP, Cornerstone, Salesforce, and/or Microsoft Active Directory a plus
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented with strong problem-solving skills
