About the position

The HRLY Teacher for Adult Vocational Industrial at Sheridan Technical College is responsible for creating and maintaining a classroom atmosphere that fosters high expectations and enthusiasm for learning. This role emphasizes the integration of critical thinking skills, application skills, interpersonal skills, and technology into a curriculum that aligns with district and state standards. The ultimate goal is to achieve measurable student achievement gains for all students. The teacher will utilize various assessment strategies, both traditional and alternative, to support the continuous development of learners. Effective communication with students, parents, and stakeholders is essential to ensure a collaborative educational environment. In addition to assessment and communication, the teacher is expected to engage in continuous professional development to enhance their skills and contribute to the school's improvement. The role requires the use of instructional strategies that reflect the diverse cultures, learning styles, and socio-economic backgrounds of students. Adherence to ethical standards and regulations is crucial, as the teacher must fulfill contractual obligations and uphold the principles of professional conduct in Florida. The teacher will also establish a classroom management system that promotes a positive learning environment, encouraging student engagement, social interaction, and self-motivation. Planning, implementing, and evaluating effective instruction and assessment across various learning environments is a key responsibility. The teacher will work collaboratively with peers, parents, and the community to continuously improve the educational experiences of students. Additionally, the integration of appropriate technology into teaching and learning processes is expected to enhance the educational experience. For those assigned to teach Limited English Proficient (LEP) students, completing the necessary training and obtaining the required endorsement is mandatory. The teacher will maintain accurate school records and submit reports as required by law and district regulations. Accountability for school property and adherence to safety procedures are also part of the role. Other duties may be assigned by the principal as needed.

• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the subject matter being taught.
• Establish a classroom management system that maintains appropriate discipline and creates a positive learning environment.
• Plan, align, implement, and evaluate effective instruction and assessment in various learning environments.
• Collaborate with peers, parents, community, and other stakeholders to improve educational experiences for students.
• Integrate appropriate technology in teaching and learning processes.
• Complete training and obtain the endorsement for teaching Limited English Proficient (LEP) students if assigned.
• Maintain school records and prepare reports as required by law and regulations.
• Account for all school property and adhere to safety procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

Requirements

• Appropriate State of Florida certification.
• Computer skills as required for the position.
