The Substitute Teacher position at Charter Schools USA is designed to enable children to pursue their education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular teacher. The role involves a variety of essential duties and responsibilities that ensure the continuity of learning and maintain the established routines of the school environment. The Substitute Teacher will review lesson plans with the principal or designated teacher and teach the lessons prepared by the absent teacher. At the conclusion of each day, the Substitute Teacher is responsible for reporting in writing the day's activities and providing feedback as requested by the building principal. It is crucial for the Substitute Teacher to follow all school and CSUSA policies, rules, and procedures, ensuring that good teaching practices are upheld throughout the day. In addition to instructional duties, the Substitute Teacher will manage student behavior, maintaining appropriate conduct at all times during the school day. This includes overseeing pupil behavior in class and during other times as requested, ensuring that the established routines and procedures of the school and classrooms are maintained. The Substitute Teacher is also expected to maintain good relations with faculty and staff, treating all information about students and staff with the utmost confidentiality. The role may also involve performing other duties as assigned, reflecting the dynamic nature of the educational environment. The position requires effective time management skills, basic computer proficiency, and strong communication abilities, including oral, written, and interpersonal skills. A BS/BA degree or equivalent experience is required, along with completion of the District's Substitute Workshop. The work environment is typical of schools, which may be noisy during high student traffic, and the position is non-exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
