About the position

The HS Spanish Teacher at FCUS Four Corners Upper School is responsible for creating and implementing a flexible program and classroom environment that fosters student learning and personal growth. This full-time, contract position requires the development of lesson plans that align with established educational guidelines and the school's philosophy. The teacher will establish effective rapport with students, staff, and parents, motivating students to develop the necessary skills, attitudes, and knowledge to build a solid educational foundation tailored to each student's abilities. In this role, the teacher will plan and implement a comprehensive program of instruction that adheres to the company's goals and objectives. This includes making purposeful lesson plans that maximize learning opportunities and provide real-world applications. The teacher will maintain accurate student records, assess student strengths and weaknesses, and provide appropriate activities to address individual needs. Additionally, the teacher will coordinate class field trips, prepare students for state-required assessments, and assist in the ongoing curriculum revision process. The teacher will also create a classroom environment conducive to learning, ensuring it is clean, safe, and reflective of student work. They will develop reasonable rules of behavior, maintain order in the classroom, and communicate effectively with parents and guardians. Participation in extracurricular activities to support a positive school culture is also expected. The position requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and a commitment to the educational mission of the school.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement a flexible program and classroom environment favorable to student learning and personal growth.
  • Develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines.
  • Establish effective rapport with students, staff members, and parents.
  • Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge for an effective educational foundation.
  • Plan and implement a program of instruction that adheres to the company's philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  • Make purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that maximize time on task.
  • Present subject matter to students to maximize learning opportunities.
  • Review student records to understand each student's abilities and needs.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records.
  • Utilize a variety of student learning modalities and differentiated instruction in lessons.
  • Conduct diagnostic assessments of student learning frequently.
  • Assess student strengths and weaknesses and provide appropriate activities to address needs.
  • Refer students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
  • Assign lessons, correct student work, and review oral presentations.
  • Coordinate class field trips as required.
  • Prepare students for state-required achievement assessments.
  • Keep current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory.
  • Assist in the ongoing curriculum revision process.
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and instructional materials.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
  • Maintain positive rapport with students and ensure a clean and safe classroom.
  • Implement relevant policies governing student conduct and develop classroom behavior rules.
  • Communicate clearly and positively with parents and guardians.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities to support a positive school culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
  • Possession of valid teaching certification.
  • Minimum of one to three years of successful teaching experience.
  • Command of subject-specific content and theoretical knowledge of learning theory.
  • Understanding of and commitment to company values.
  • Successful results of criminal and employment background check.
  • Effective instructional delivery techniques and excellent communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience teaching Chinese language.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
