About the position

The HSE Advisor position at Wood is a mid-level role focused on ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations within a natural gas facility. The advisor will work closely with field employees, landowners, and clients, and will be responsible for conducting inspections, audits, and training programs to promote a strong safety culture. This role requires effective communication and public speaking skills, as well as the ability to create and present safety presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct HSE inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Review and maintain safety records to ensure personnel training requirements are current.
  • Implement and direct the Process Safety Management program in accordance with OSHA PSM standards.
  • Create Management of Change (MOC) documents and track action items to completion.
  • Update Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID's) and Operating Procedures as changes are implemented.
  • Enforce and clarify Company Safety policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Liaise with onsite leadership to create HSE goals and key performance measures.
  • Analyze and interpret HSE technical procedures and regulations.
  • Create and implement training programs for operations and maintenance staff.
  • Oversee contractor safety programs and conduct periodic safety reviews of contractors.
  • Conduct audits of Company operations to ensure compliance with HSE legislation and standards.
  • Participate in HSE Incident Investigations and track recommendations until closure.
  • Track and report incidents, near misses, spills, and releases to Management and company HSE.
  • Conduct site surveys, safety evaluations, and hazard identification assessments in the field.
  • Manage Permit to Work activities, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).
  • Monitor and maintain adequate safety equipment and review audit reports for corrective actions.
  • Lead risk management and HSE activities, including risk assessments and HSE meetings.
  • Conduct orientations for new and existing employees and monitor work sites for safety culture.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of technical experience working in a natural gas facility.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Effective/competent user of MS Office Suite.
  • High level of communication skills in both written and spoken format.
