About the position

The Software Developer at Goldbelt Nighthawk will support the Navy Medicine Operational Training Command (NMOTC) by providing application development and management services. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to convert functional requirements into technical specifications, maintaining application documentation, and ensuring compliance with security standards. The position is integral to delivering effective software solutions that meet the needs of over 100,000 end-users worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Provide application development and management for all NMOTC applications.
  • Convert functional requirements into technical requirements for application development.
  • Collaborate with application system stakeholders to document requirements and analyze application change requests.
  • Document established processes, project scope, and specifications for application development.
  • Create and update applications that retrieve/archive information from databases for medical information processing.
  • Support the NMOTC defined Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) release schedule for application changes.
  • Maintain application system documentation, including flowcharts, layouts, and program code.
  • Develop object definitions and architecture for web-based applications and services.
  • Apply principles of object-oriented programming and rapid application development.
  • Develop and enhance database applications using open database connectivity.
  • Perform testing and quality control activities, including user training and test management.
  • Conduct systems analysis and recommend application security controls for process improvement.
  • Provide real-time support for local non-enterprise software application systems.
  • Prepare technical documentation for application development.
  • Perform Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scanning to identify vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with NMOTC ISSM to report mitigation strategies and remediate vulnerabilities.
  • Monitor and report on vulnerability management activities and remediate POA&M items.
  • Document application development policy changes for NMOTC ISSM approval.
  • Ensure DISA STIG compliance for all hosted applications.
  • Apply information assurance policies and security measures to all servers.
  • Report malicious or suspicious activity to maintain network integrity.
  • Create monthly CKL files and show weekly progress in mitigating vulnerabilities.

Requirements

  • Experience in application development and management.
  • Proficiency in converting functional requirements into technical specifications.
  • Strong documentation skills for processes and project scopes.
  • Experience with database management and application development.
  • Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.
  • Familiarity with object-oriented programming principles.
  • Experience in testing and quality control activities.
  • Understanding of application security controls and compliance standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scanning.
