About the position

The HUD Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of residential or commercial properties, ensuring compliance with regulations, managing tenant relations, and coordinating maintenance and repairs. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as proficiency in property management software.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of residential or commercial properties
  • Manage tenant relations, including responding to inquiries and addressing concerns
  • Coordinate and supervise maintenance and repairs
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Market available properties and conduct property showings
  • Screen potential tenants and manage lease agreements
  • Collect rent payments and handle delinquencies
  • Prepare financial reports and budgets
  • Conduct regular property inspections

Requirements

  • Must have HUD & LIHTC experience
  • COS and/or TCS certification required
  • Demonstrated ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and/or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Real Page operating experience preferred

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software
  • Strong sales skills to effectively market available properties
  • Experience with Yardi or other property management software
  • Knowledge of Section 8 housing regulations and procedures
  • Ability to upsell additional services or amenities to tenants
  • Excellent negotiation skills for lease agreements and vendor contracts
  • Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations pertaining to property management
  • Proficient in office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Experience in legal administrative tasks related to property management
  • Exceptional phone etiquette for effective communication
