About the position

The Hull Support Manager can be located in either Pascagoula, MS or Washington, DC. They will be responsible for serving as a liaison between the Program Office, planning yard, executing yard, ship, and all cognizant Navy activities regarding the planning and execution of the DDG 51 PDA / MSA / PSA, including management of the Work Packages, associated trial cards, and coordination of planning conferences. The manager will ensure complete accuracy of all work items in the availability work package database, assist the Hull Manager with controlling project scope, budget, and schedule, maintain project metrics, and prepare reports and briefs for high level Navy officials as required. Additionally, they will lead and interface with a myriad of participating organizations, including NAVSEA, NSA, shipyard leadership, ships force, and other industry and government activities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure complete accuracy of all work items in the availability work package database.
  • Assist the Hull Manager with controlling project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Maintain project metrics and prepare reports and briefs for high level Navy officials as required.
  • Lead and interface with various organizations including NAVSEA, NSA, shipyard leadership, ships force, and other industry and government activities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in the construction, maintenance and/or operation of hull, mechanical or electrical (HM&E) and/or combat systems for US Navy surface ships.
  • Understanding of shipboard nomenclature and shipyard processes.
  • Possess the technical acumen and personal demeanor to lead and interface with various organizations.
  • Ability to work in an industrial environment.
  • Proficient in the use of Windows PC and Microsoft Office software.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with and interpreting work specifications.
  • Ability to obtain confidential Secret security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree OR five (5) years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Experience managing ship overhauls/availabilities.
  • Experience managing/monitoring shipyard contract performance.
  • Ability to use Earned Value Management principles in controlling project cost and schedule.
