About the position

The Firmwide Compensation Team within Goldman Sachs' Human Capital Management division is responsible for developing and implementing compensation strategies, policies, and practices globally. This role involves collaboration with various departments to attract and retain top talent, providing strategic advisory on compensation programs, and analyzing market trends to inform decision-making. The position requires strong analytical skills, innovative problem-solving, and effective communication to drive continuous improvement and efficiency in compensation processes.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to design compensation programs and deliver projects in line with firm and divisional strategy.
  • Lead compensation benchmarking initiatives by working with consultants and HCM peers.
  • Provide key findings to divisional and firmwide senior leadership throughout the year.
  • Partner with cross-functional HCM teams to advise and structure new hire compensation packages.
  • Engage with the Firmwide Compensation team to identify continuous improvement and automation opportunities, drive process change, and create efficiencies across the function.
  • Analyze hiring and attrition trends to understand market movement and advise senior stakeholders on best approaches to attract and retain top talent.
  • Design compensation programs and policies, including modeling financial costs and implementation strategies.
  • Work closely with finance and divisions to manage compensation budgets throughout the year; centrally administer the year-end compensation process for the firm.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; preferably in an analytical field such as Finance, Accounting, or Mathematics or a related field in HR.
  • 1+ year of relevant work experience required.
  • Highly proficient in working with and analyzing large sets of data and presenting results clearly.
  • Ability to handle multiple, time-sensitive projects while maintaining quality of work.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and excellent follow-through.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop relationships across HCM groups.
  • Proficient in Excel, including vLookups, Pivot Tables, and other advanced formulas.
  • Ability to think multiple steps ahead and prepare for potential problems.
