About the position

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Human Exploration and Spaceflight Subject Matter Expert to support NASA's Extravehicular Human Mobility Program Standing Review Board at the Johnson Space Center (JSC). This part-time casual position, which allows for a hybrid work model, will involve working closely with civil servant program management in an advisory capacity to support strategy development and program office activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for refining technical integration and communications products, contributing to the establishment of strategy and vision, and serving as a proactive advisory specialist. This role requires a deep understanding of issues and the ability to formulate options and recommendations while collaborating with various teams and stakeholders. In this position, you will attend various meetings and conferences, both regularly scheduled and intermittent, and develop periodic status reports and presentations. You will also be tasked with creating special reports that discuss findings, issues, conclusions, recommendations, and risk assessments. The role requires formulating recommendations to senior-level program management and performing other duties as required by the customer. This position is based in either Houston, TX, or Washington, DC, and offers flexibility in work arrangements, combining regular onsite workdays with remote work as business needs allow.

Responsibilities

  • Support program office activities, working closely with civil servant program management in an advisory role supporting strategy development.
  • Attend various meetings and conferences, both regularly scheduled and intermittent.
  • Refine technical integration and communications products and contribute to refining content and establishing strategy and vision.
  • Serve as a highly proactive advisory specialist, understanding issues and formulating options/recommendations, while working closely with teams and across other offices, working groups, and panels.
  • Integrate with subject matter experts and stakeholders.
  • Participate in NASA Program office's Artemis Program Office forums as well as International Space Station and Commercial Leo Development initiatives.
  • Develop periodic status reports and presentations.
  • Develop special reports/discussions of findings, issues, conclusions, recommendations, and risk assessments.
  • Formulate recommendations to senior-level program management.
  • Perform other duties for the customer as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in applicable STEM areas.
  • At least 15 years of increasingly responsible professional experience, including experience in a system engineering and/or program management environment.
  • Ability to effectively utilize oral and written communication to express technical concepts and recommendations to personnel at all technical and managerial levels.
  • Ability to work in a quick-paced, small core team that leads technical discussions across a large technical community and influences teams across the NASA enterprise.
  • Initiative and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers.
  • Excellent teaming and leadership skills with an ability to multi-task across various issues/disciplines simultaneously.
  • This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
