About the position
The Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) Administrator and Senior HRPP Administrator positions at Brown University are responsible for overseeing the administration and implementation of policies and procedures related to human subjects research. These roles ensure compliance with federal regulations, state laws, and institutional policies while supporting the IRB Committee meetings and managing research protocols across multiple institutions. The HRPP is expanding to accommodate a growing number of research protocols, making these positions critical to maintaining ethical standards in research practices.
Responsibilities
- Administer and implement HRPP and IRB policies and procedures related to human subjects research.
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations, state laws, and institutional policies.
- Conduct non-committee reviews of research protocols.
- Support IRB Committee meetings by preparing agendas and materials, and managing attendance.
- Advise IRB members on applicable regulations and policies.
- Maintain knowledge of current federal and state regulations regarding human subjects research.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related experience for HRPP Administrator; 5+ years for Senior HRPP Administrator.
- Working knowledge of federal regulations protecting human subjects.
- Experience in an HRPP office within an academic or clinical setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in electronic IRB submission systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Nice-to-haves
- CIP certification or willingness to obtain it within two years for Senior HRPP Administrator.
- Knowledge of clinical trials and results reporting is desirable.
