About the position
The Human Resource Assistant will support the HR department at a manufacturing facility in Turlock, CA. This role is essential for ensuring smooth operations within the HR department, particularly in the absence of the HR Manager. The position is contract-to-hire and requires on-site work during the first shift.
Responsibilities
- Assist with payroll processing and act as a backup in the absence of the Human Resource Manager.
- Manage, update and track leaves of absence in Workday.
- Answer frequently asked questions from employees regarding standard policies, benefits, and hiring processes.
- Manage and maintain hourly employee vacations and current attendance records for all hourly employees.
- Conduct initial orientation for newly hired employees.
Requirements
- 2+ years of related human resources experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Associate's degree or related field in Human Resources preferred.
- Highly skilled with MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Preferred experience with HR software such as HRIS.
- Knowledgeable in employment state and federal laws.
- Strong resourcefulness, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with Workday or similar HR software.
