About the position

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a trusted advisor and thought partner to various business units within Loretto. This role is pivotal in championing the organization's culture and ensuring effective execution of Human Resources processes to meet service plan deliverables. The HRBP is the primary contact for all Labor and Employee Relations inquiries, ensuring compliance with employment laws and collective bargaining agreements while managing relationships with individual business units.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the business and teams supported, making proactive recommendations on talent-related issues and initiatives.
  • Coach leaders at all levels on best practices for employee engagement, communication, and performance management.
  • Provide consultative support on all HR policies and practices.
  • Collaborate with management to improve work relationships, morale, productivity, and retention.
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies, procedures, collective bargaining agreements, laws, and regulations.
  • Maintain relationships with union leadership at the business unit level.
  • Manage and resolve employee and labor relations issues, including harassment allegations and employee disputes.
  • Conduct thorough workplace investigations when appropriate and initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Coordinate unemployment claims and represent the company in hearings as necessary.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of workplace accidents and incidents.
  • Assist supervisors in conducting investigations related to workplace issues.
  • Work with management on compliance regarding on-the-job accident processes, including return to work.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations in collaboration with site management.
  • Support training initiatives by collaborating with Learning & Development staff.
  • Assist in conducting new hire orientation and manage the off-boarding process.
  • Analyze data and make recommendations for corrective actions and continuous improvement.
  • Generate statistical reports for business unit leaders to show progress towards HR goals.
  • Participate in developing HR department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Escalate issues as necessary and provide training on HR-related matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of labor and employee relations experience in a unionized setting.
  • Knowledge of Federal, NY State, and employment law compliance issues.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy in various situations.
  • Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with diverse groups.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to analyze and address customer needs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, time-critical environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proven organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid NYS Driver's License and reliable transportation for regional travel.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer applications including MS Office and HRIS systems.
