About the position

The Human Resource Consultant position at Advocate Aurora Health is a full-time role based in Chicago, IL, focused on collaborating with site leadership and Centers of Excellence (COEs) to develop and implement people strategies that align with organizational goals. The consultant will advise leaders on utilizing data and assessment methodologies to identify behaviors and trends that impact organizational outcomes, and will develop strategic responses to address these trends. A key responsibility includes monitoring associate engagement survey results and executing initiatives to enhance engagement across the system. In this role, the consultant will coach and consult on team culture and development, performance management, and associate engagement turnarounds. They will lead or significantly contribute to interdisciplinary teams aimed at achieving key organizational objectives, such as associate safety and workplace violence prevention. The consultant will also collaborate with site leadership on talent management strategies, utilizing assessment tools to coach leaders on their effective application. The position requires the consultant to facilitate learning opportunities, both in-person and virtually, to develop leadership competencies. They will partner with HR leadership to manage the talent management process, including succession planning and identifying skill gaps. The consultant will also support the execution of organizational effectiveness interventions and consult on human capital-related business operations, ensuring that HR policies are applied fairly and consistently. Additionally, the consultant will contribute to diversity and inclusion best practices and act as a change agent to prepare leaders and associates for ongoing transformations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with site leadership and COEs on people strategies to support organizational outcomes and strategies.
  • Advises leaders on effectively using data and assessment methodologies to identify behaviors or trends impacting organizational outcomes.
  • Monitors associate engagement survey results and responds strategically for maximum impact.
  • Executes on system associate engagement initiatives.
  • Coaches and consults on team culture and development, including performance management and corrective action.
  • Leads or plays a significant role in interdisciplinary teams to accomplish key organizational objectives.
  • Collaborates with site leadership on key talent management strategies.
  • Utilizes leader and team assessment tools and coaches recipients on effectively using the results.
  • Facilitates system and site-based learning to develop leader competencies and skills.
  • Partners with site HR leadership to manage the site talent management process, including succession planning activities.
  • Delivers coaching and development to assist leaders in their ongoing development.
  • Partners with Learning team members to identify site and system-based needs for leadership development.
  • Supports site-based sustainment of system-developed programs.
  • Consults with leaders on human capital-related business operations and assists in data interpretation.
  • Utilizes team effectiveness methodology to support teams in optimal performance.
  • Implements organizational and individual diagnostic tools to provide insights into organizational effectiveness priorities.
  • Ensures HR policies and practices are applied with fairness and consistency.
  • Works in partnership with the ARCC regarding complex associate relations situations.
  • Contributes to improving diversity and inclusion best practices across the site and system.
  • Advises leaders and associates on managing change and mitigating risk.
  • Coaches leaders on organizational redesign/restructuring processes.
  • Acts as a change agent to prepare leaders and associates for ongoing change.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in human resources, organizational development, or associate relations experience.
  • Experience working in a complex healthcare organization is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret HR policies and practices.
  • Ability to prepare and coach leaders on sound HR practices.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines and business practices.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical ability, business, industry, and financial acumen.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances in the business.
  • Self-directed, self-motivated, and flexible with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to understand and use relevant HR technology systems.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
