About the position

The Human Resource Generalist and Business Partner serves as the primary contact for assigned client groups, ensuring that HR practices and programs align with the overall business goals and initiatives. This role is pivotal in fostering a positive work environment by working closely with front-line leaders and employees to enhance work relationships, boost morale, and increase employee productivity, retention, and engagement. The HR Generalist will provide consistent guidance on HR policies and interpretations, helping to navigate complex employee relations issues and conducting thorough investigations when necessary. In addition to employee relations, this position is responsible for the development, implementation, and annual review of HR policies and procedures, including the employee handbook. The HR Generalist will analyze trends and metrics in collaboration with HR and line leaders to create effective solutions and programs. They will also provide day-to-day coaching and support to front-line leaders in managing their people-related responsibilities, including performance management guidance, coaching, counseling, and career development. The role supports recruiting activities and onboarding of new hires, recommending new approaches and policies to improve departmental efficiency. The HR Generalist will assist with various HR Operations activities, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Staying informed about trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in human resources is essential for this position, as is participation in HR projects as requested.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with front-line leaders and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase employee productivity, retention, and engagement.
  • Provide consistent HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Partner with client groups to manage and resolve complex employee relations issues; conduct effective investigations as needed.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and annual review of HR policies and procedures and the employee handbook.
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with HR and line leaders to develop effective solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and support to front-line leaders in carrying out their people-related responsibilities.
  • Provide performance management guidance to line management, including coaching, counseling, career development, and performance improvement.
  • Support recruiting activities and onboarding of new hires as needed.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Assist with HR Operations activities, including unemployment claims, subpoena requests, verification of employment, I9 Compliance, and document management.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources.
  • Participate in HR projects as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in the field of Human Resources required.
  • Ability to understand and maintain a level of business literacy about the client group's strategies, goals, and challenges.
  • Ability to think creatively; highly-driven and self-motivated.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment regulations and related laws and ability to apply them in varying situations.
  • Ability to build effective relationships across organizational levels.
  • Working knowledge of multiple HR disciplines including compensation, employee relations, diversity and inclusion, performance management, benefits, and recruitment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer and quality focus.
  • Ability to act with integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite of products; working knowledge of HR Information Systems (Oracle a plus).
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or HRCI PHR credential a plus.
