About the position

The Human Resource Generalist position at Walgreens is a pivotal role that operates under the direction of the HR Manager. This position is designed to provide comprehensive HR support across a wide array of activities, including employee engagement, performance management, recruitment and selection, employee relations, compensation, employee benefits, training, and special HR projects as assigned. The HR Generalist will work collaboratively with various teams to understand business needs and leverage Human Resources to influence and lead the organization towards achieving its key objectives. A critical aspect of this role is maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as adhering to recommended best practices. The HR Generalist will also partner with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) on escalated matters and provide coaching to leadership, ensuring a positive working environment and effective communication among team members and leaders to resolve issues promptly. In this role, the HR Generalist will build strong relationships with leaders to implement HR strategies, programs, and deliverables that align with business goals. Responsibilities include providing coaching and guidance on organizational policies and practices, conducting recruitment efforts for various team members, and facilitating new employee orientations. The HR Generalist will also consult with managers on workforce data to anticipate talent gaps and assist team members with inquiries related to employee benefits programs. Additionally, the role involves attending facility meetings to disseminate company news and facilitate discussions, maintaining employee records, and fostering a culture of celebration and recognition to enhance employee engagement. The HR Generalist will also mentor less experienced HR staff and assist in performance reviews and the selection of new team members.

Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships with leaders to implement HR strategies, programs, and deliverables.
  • Provide coaching and guidance on organizational policies and practices.
  • Conduct recruitment efforts for exempt and nonexempt team members and contingent workers.
  • Conduct new employee orientations and monitor career pathing programs.
  • Consult with managers on absenteeism, turnover, and workforce data to anticipate talent gaps.
  • Assist team members with inquiries regarding employee benefits programs.
  • Attend facility meetings to provide updates on company news and changes.
  • Streamline communication for favorable adoption of new initiatives and policies.
  • Maintain employee records including attendance, leaves, and disciplinary actions.
  • Inspire a culture of celebration, appreciation, and recognition to drive engagement.
  • Support the launch of the annual engagement survey and analyze results.
  • Mentor and train less experienced HR staff and provide feedback on performance reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree OR High School Diploma/GED and at least 3 years experience in employee relations, staffing & selection, compensation & benefits and/or training.
  • Experience applying knowledge of Federal, State, Labor and Employment laws, Workers' compensation, FMLA, ADA and OSHA laws.
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years human resources experience OR High School Diploma/GED and at least 5 years human resources experience.
  • Experience with Labor Relations.
  • Experience working in distribution, manufacturing, and/or production environments.
  • Strong time management skills for prioritizing and organizing multiple projects.
