About the position

The Human Resources Generalist I at First Solar plays a crucial role in supporting the HR management and Operations management teams to ensure effective associate relations within a manufacturing facility. This position serves as the primary point of contact for associates and supervisors, providing day-to-day HR support for assigned teams and crews. The HR Generalist I is responsible for various functional areas including benefits administration, employee relations, training, onboarding, policy implementation, and compliance with employment laws. The role requires a proactive approach to managing HR operations and ensuring that associates receive the necessary support to thrive in their roles. In this position, the HR Generalist I will partner closely with manufacturing associates and supervisors to provide guidance on HR matters. This includes coordinating with internal departments such as Benefits and Payroll to resolve issues efficiently and courteously. The HR Generalist will also handle employee relations, addressing and resolving associates' concerns in a timely and ethical manner. Key responsibilities include managing onboarding and off-boarding processes, assisting with recruitment efforts, and maintaining confidential personnel files. The HR Generalist will also recommend improvements to HR processes and systems, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. The role requires strong analytical skills to gather and analyze HR metrics, preparing reports that inform decision-making. The HR Generalist I will participate in the planning and implementation of team and personal goals, contributing to the overall success of the HR function within the organization. Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day HR operations and administration of policies and procedures.
  • Provide HR guidance to manufacturing associates and supervisors.
  • Coordinate with Benefits, Payroll, and other HR departments for issue resolution.
  • Handle employee relations, addressing associates' concerns in a timely manner.
  • Administer onboarding, off-boarding, recruitment, leave cases, and employment status changes.
  • Assist in talent acquisition and recruitment processes.
  • Organize and maintain confidential personnel and HR information files electronically.
  • Recommend improvements to HR processes and systems.
  • Assist in developing and implementing personnel policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Gather and analyze HR metrics and prepare reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience in Human Resources preferred.
  • In lieu of HR experience, a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and education is required.
  • Proven employee relations experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems, ADP, and Kronos preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in human resources or business.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures.
  • Good knowledge of employment/labor laws.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ethical practice and cultural awareness.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and HRIS systems.
