About the position

The Human Resource Generalist III position at the Department of Health is responsible for providing comprehensive HR support to various divisions within the Public Health Division. This role encompasses a wide range of HR functions including compensation, classification, benefits administration, payroll, recruitment, and transaction processing. The position requires independent work and a thorough understanding of state and federal HR laws and policies, ensuring compliance and effective HR management across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide HR support in areas of compensation, classification, benefits, payroll, recruitment, and transaction processing.
  • Assist with the interpretation of State Personnel Board Rules, PERA Rules, and Department of Health policies.
  • Independently manage benefits, classification, compensation, training, and labor relations issues.
  • Conduct new employee orientation and provide HR-related training as needed.
  • Examine, process, and reconcile HR data independently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in any field and one (1) year of experience in human resource operations.
  • Experience in recruitment, selection, payroll, compensation, benefits administration, and labor relations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working with collective bargaining agreements.
