About the position

The Human Resource Generalist III position at the New Mexico Department of Justice is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Human Resources Division. This role ensures that HR objectives align with the organizational goals and the mission of the NMDOJ. The position requires a strong understanding of federal, state, and local human resource laws, as well as the ability to respond effectively to the needs of staff and management.

Responsibilities

  • Execute personnel actions including hiring, promotion, reclassification, and termination while ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls and external guidelines.
  • Manage payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and completion by addressing exceptions and collaborating with timekeepers and approvers to meet payroll deadlines.
  • Audit payroll using reports and queries to ensure accuracy and provide necessary data to support budget alignment.
  • Direct HR operations related to on-boarding and off-boarding tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in any field.
  • One year of experience in human resource operations, including recruitment, payroll, and benefits administration.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local human resource laws.
