About the position

The Human Resources Generalist III at First Solar is a pivotal role responsible for executing HR-related duties at a professional level, collaborating closely with HR management and senior generalists to support designated geographic regions across the U.S. This position is integral to the day-to-day HR operations, particularly in a 24/7 manufacturing environment, where it leads associate relations efforts and ensures the implementation of HR services, policies, procedures, and programs. The HR Generalist III will work closely with manufacturing supervisors and other leaders to provide comprehensive HR support, ensuring that the workforce is engaged, informed, and compliant with all relevant employment laws and regulations. In this role, the HR Generalist III will manage various functional areas including benefits administration, employee relations, training, onboarding, policy implementation, and compliance with employment law. The position requires a proactive approach to managing HR operations, facilitating communication between associates and managers, and providing guidance on HR-related issues. The HR Generalist III will also be responsible for maintaining accurate HR records, conducting audits, and ensuring the integrity of data within the HRIS system. This role is essential in fostering a positive employee-oriented culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, and high performance. The HR Generalist III will also participate in the recruitment process, working with hiring managers and the recruiting team to attract and retain top talent. This includes preparing internal communications regarding compensation and benefits, as well as participating in and leading associate committees. The position requires a strong understanding of HR policies and procedures, as well as the ability to coach managers on associate issues and resolve employee relations matters effectively. Overall, the HR Generalist III plays a crucial role in supporting the organization's human resources functions and contributing to the overall success of First Solar.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day HR operations and administration of policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Facilitate communication between associates and managers regarding HR guidance.
  • Serve as a contact and resource for employees and managers on HR-related issues.
  • Administer onboarding, off-boarding, recruitment, leave cases, and employment status changes.
  • Partner with associates to provide HR support and act as a backup for other departments.
  • Conduct management by walking around to gauge associate morale and address concerns.
  • Coach managers on associate issues and provide expert guidance on employment laws and HR policies.
  • Resolve employee relations issues and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
  • Collaborate with business areas on compensation evaluations and promotions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all employee and company information.
  • Ensure timely submission of information to corporate HR regarding new hires and other changes.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the recruitment process with hiring managers and the recruiting team.
  • Prepare internal communications regarding compensation, benefits, and policies.
  • Participate in and lead associate committees as needed.
  • Maintain accurate HR records and files, and conduct compliance audits.
  • Research HR industry trends and benchmark successful programs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Human Resources required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Proven employee relations experience required.
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems (Oracle) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of employment/labor laws and regulations required.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Human Resources, or a related field required.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP Certification preferred.
  • Excellent understanding of general human resources policies and procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
