About the position

Rise Baking Company is excited to announce a brand new position for an experienced Human Resource Generalist at our Kent, WA location. This full-time role offers a flexible day shift opportunity and is essential for supporting our growing company. The HR Generalist will be responsible for a variety of human resource functions, including benefits and leave of absence administration, employee relations, workers' compensation, training and development, policy implementation, employment law compliance, staffing and recruiting, safety, and employee appreciation. In this role, you will administer various human resource plans and procedures for plant personnel, assisting in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures. You will respond to employee relations issues, such as complaints, and escalate them to the HR Manager as needed. Additionally, you will guide and coach managers during the employee disciplinary process, ensuring that all actions are compliant with company policies and legal requirements. You will help employees navigate their benefits, monitor eligibility for benefit plans, and manage the open enrollment communication and election process. The HR Generalist will also manage the leave of absence process, including FMLA, STD, and LTD claims, and workers' compensation, ensuring effective communication with employees and the management team. Furthermore, you will coordinate and conduct new hire orientations, oversee the onboarding experience, and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Your role will also involve maintaining human resource information system records, compiling employee reports, and assisting with recruitment and onboarding activities. You will play a key role in creating and facilitating training and development opportunities for our workforce, as well as coordinating employee recognition programs and appreciation events throughout the year. This position is vital for fostering a positive work environment and driving improvements within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Administer various human resource plans and procedures for plant personnel.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Respond to employee relations issues and escalate to HR Manager as needed.
  • Guide and coach managers during the employee disciplinary process.
  • Help employees navigate benefits and monitor eligibility for benefit plans.
  • Review benefits with employees and process benefits enrollment, cancellation, or changes.
  • Manage open enrollment communication and election process.
  • Manage leave of absence process and return to work of FMLA, STD, and LTD claims and workers' compensation.
  • Provide assistance with workers' compensation process including entering claims and following up with employees.
  • Coordinate/conduct new hire orientation and own onboarding experience.
  • Administer data entry in Alchemy and lead compliance training.
  • Develop reports as needed and assist in creating training and development opportunities.
  • Coordinate and maintain employee recognition program and assist with appreciation events.
  • Conduct stay and exit interviews to drive improvements within the organization.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain human resource information system records and compile employee reports.
  • Provide assistance as needed for recruitment and onboarding activities.
  • Comply with all food safety requirements, training, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field or equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a human resource role.
  • CP/PHR certification preferred or ability to obtain certification within 12 months.
  • Experience with a fast-growing manufacturing company preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations pertaining to employment.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills; experience with ADP WORKFORCE NOW is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the company.
  • Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to work closely with other departments to advise and resolve issues as needed.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and manage changing priorities.
  • Cultural competency; experience/ability to work and interact effectively with a diverse, multicultural audience.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including various shifts periodically.
