About the position

The Human Resource Generalist/Payroll Coordinator at Libertana is responsible for processing payroll for all company entities and supporting the HR department with various administrative tasks. This role requires a strong background in human resources and payroll management, ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly payrolls for all Libertana and its entities through ADP.
  • Review reports and check for payroll accuracy.
  • Review and verify timesheets and attendance records to ensure proper payment.
  • Calculate and process manual checks for bonuses, missed payments, terminations, etc.
  • Assist with year-end processes, including the preparation of W2's, ACA compliance/1095's and other tax documents.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, deductions, and benefit premiums.
  • Assist with audits and ensure payroll documentation is maintained in compliance with company policies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws.
  • Process and notify employees of wage garnishments.
  • Process new benefit enrollments; maintain benefit records; coordinate open enrollment sessions and work with third-party administrators.
  • Process health insurance/child support orders.
  • Oversee Leave of Absences, including tracking, documenting, and sending notices to employees to ensure full compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Coordinate and monitor premium payments with employees on leave of absence.
  • Enforce company policy and procedures.
  • Process employment verifications and letters as needed.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of HR experience required.
  • 2+ years of payroll experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management or related field strongly preferred.
  • PHR or SPHR certification or any other advanced accreditations preferred.
  • Previous experience leading and working with a team to meet daily, weekly, and quarterly goals.
  • Knowledge of California employee benefits, unemployment, worker's compensation, leave of absence, and other related employee rights.
  • Experience with ADP preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Suite.
  • Data entry experience and knowledge of spreadsheets required.
  • Strong effective written and verbal communication.
  • Broad knowledge of human resource topics, including compensation, performance management, talent development, policy compliance, etc.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good communications and relationships with office, field, and administrative personnel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with California employee benefits and regulations.
  • Advanced certifications in HR management.
