About the position

The Human Resource Generalist position at Magna Powertrain supports all HR functions, including employee relations, benefits, and recruitment activities. This role is essential in maintaining and enhancing the Human Resource Department at MPT Shelby Township, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures while promoting a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the administration of HR policies and procedures including Benefits, Safety and Health, Employee Work Rules and Regulations, Employee Orientation, and Training.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all areas of human resources.
  • Support all employees, including availability to hourly employees by being on the plant floor regularly.
  • Coordinate company functions, employee relations activities, and training registration.
  • File and organize forms and documents, reference materials, and maintain employment records according to guidelines.
  • Recruit qualified candidates for open positions and manage related tasks.
  • Review hourly performance appraisals and employee communications, including presentations for Employee Meetings.
  • Issue employee disciplines when necessary.
  • Oversee training for the division, including scheduling and maintaining the Training Database on PC Compliance.
  • Maintain and update PeopleSoft.
  • Provide backup support for processing payroll and benefit-related tasks.
  • Guide MPT Shelby Township's employees and assist Supervisors/Managers on employee issues.
  • Administer training grants and promote excellence in all business aspects.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and submit cost-saving improvement suggestions.
  • Manage multiple projects and deliverables while treating team members with dignity and respect.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures, including IATF16949, ISO14001 (EMS), and the Employee Handbook.
  • Follow MIOSHA and MPT Shelby Township's safety regulations and policies.

Requirements

  • HR related certification or degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the human resource field.
  • At least 1 year of HR experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English.
  • Working knowledge of applicable Labor Laws.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Workday.
  • Demonstrated creativity, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Team-oriented work approach.
  • Professional conduct and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent attendance and performance record.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
