About the position

The Human Resource Generalist position at Magna International Inc. is responsible for supporting all HR functions, including employee relations, benefits administration, and recruitment activities. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining and enhancing the Human Resource Department at the MPT Shelby Township facility, ensuring compliance with company policies and labor laws while promoting a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the administration of HR policies and procedures including benefits, safety, and employee work rules.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all HR areas.
  • Support employees by being present on the plant floor regularly.
  • Coordinate company functions and employee relations activities.
  • File and organize HR documents and maintain employment records.
  • Recruit qualified candidates for open positions.
  • Review performance appraisals for hourly employees.
  • Create employee communications and presentations for meetings.
  • Issue employee disciplines when necessary.
  • Oversee training scheduling and maintain training databases.
  • Update and maintain PeopleSoft records.
  • Provide backup support for payroll and benefits tasks.
  • Guide employees on HR issues and advise supervisors on employee matters.
  • Administer training grants and promote excellence in business practices.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and submit cost-saving suggestions.
  • Manage multiple projects while adhering to company policies and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience in Human Resources, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Workday.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
  • Knowledge of employment and labor laws.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professional conduct.

Nice-to-haves

  • HR related certification or degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the human resource field.
