About the position

The Human Resource Generalist (HR Generalist) plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of the Human Resource department at Mersino Dewatering LLC. This position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of HR activities within the organization. The HR Generalist is responsible for administering various employee programs, including reimbursement programs, performance management, benefits administration, training and development, and compliance with employment laws and regulations. This role is vital in fostering a positive work environment and enhancing employee experience through effective HR practices. In this position, the HR Generalist will assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures, ensuring that all HR processes comply with company policies and legal requirements. The role involves managing employee 401K and Roth contributions, conducting monthly audits, and processing payroll reimbursements. The HR Generalist will also serve as the primary point of contact for employment verifications, garnishments, and medical support orders, ensuring that all records are accurately maintained and filed. Additionally, the HR Generalist will coordinate Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Leave of Absence (LOA) requests, manage Cobra administration, and assist with the annual submission of required forms. This position requires a strong understanding of HR practices and labor laws, as well as the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality. The HR Generalist will work collaboratively with managers to support performance appraisals and employee development plans, while also identifying opportunities to improve HR processes and employee experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in development and implementation of HR policies
  • Manage employee 401K & Roth contributions including 401K loan processing and entry of weekly Fidelity feedback files
  • Conduct monthly Fidelity audits ensuring the accuracy of employee elections and contributions
  • Maintain and process payroll reimbursements, including Boot & Apparel allowance along with Mersino's Tuition Reimbursement program in conjunction with Payroll
  • Serve as the point of contact for employment verifications, garnishments, medical support orders and pre-qualification requests ensuring completion and filing of records in employee file
  • Primary point of contact for processing/troubleshooting Benefit Enrollments, including EDI File feeds, claims questions and Evidence of Insurability requests
  • Manage Cobra administration, reconciling Cobra Accounts, payments and communications
  • Assist with the annual submission of 1094/95 forms as required
  • Coordinate FMLA and LOA leave requests as the point of contact for employees, administering all necessary forms and communication with employees and branch management
  • Point of contact for employee discipline and termination documentation, preparing the necessary documentation in line with company policy & procedures
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the performance management systems, supporting managers in conducting performance appraisals while tracking and monitoring employee performance and development plans
  • Maintain and perform monthly audit of ADP profiles for accuracy and compliance
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records and assisting in the preparation of reports for management and regulatory agencies
  • Main contact for PTO-related inquiries, maintaining PTO exception list(s) and troubleshooting PTO calculation errors
  • Set up & maintain state tax accounts in conjunction with opening new branch locations and/or hiring of new employees
  • Help ensure all HR processes comply with company policies, employment laws, and regulations
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR process and employee experience, implementing best practices and innovative solutions
  • Backup for the HR Coordinator when necessary
  • Crosstrain in payroll and serve as a payroll backup when necessary
  • Assist HR by maintaining accurate employee records in ADP and various software platforms
  • Partner with the Benefits Manager to assist in tracking and reporting monthly key HR metrics

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in an HR generalist role
  • Professional work experience in the construction or manufacturing arenas preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office and other required PC software applications
  • Strong understanding of HR practices and labor laws
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Work under pressure to meet deadlines
