About the position

As the Human Resource Generalist at Fresno Mission, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of the Human Resource Department. This position is designed for an individual who possesses a strong understanding of HR best practices and is capable of driving positive change within the organization. Your primary responsibility will be to implement effective HR strategies that align with the goals and objectives of Fresno Mission. You will be involved in various HR functions including recruitment, employee onboarding, benefits management, compliance, and employee relations. In this role, you will be responsible for recruiting, screening, and interviewing candidates for open positions, collaborating closely with departmental directors to identify the necessary skills and competencies for each role. You will also manage the new employee orientation process, ensuring that all onboarding training is completed effectively. Additionally, you will oversee employee benefit plans, addressing any questions or issues that arise. Your duties will extend to administering human resource programs, which encompass compensation, benefits, leave management, and performance management. You will handle employee relations issues, ensuring that the organization remains compliant with federal, state, and local regulations. Maintaining the Human Resource Information System will also be a key responsibility, as will tracking compliance with mandatory training and certifications. You will be expected to stay informed about trends and changes in employment law and HR practices, ensuring that Fresno Mission remains a leader in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Recruits, screens, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.
  • Collaborates with departmental directors to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Administers new employee orientations and ensures that all onboarding training is complete.
  • Assists with continual development and refinement of company onboarding process.
  • Manages employee benefit plans and assists employees with benefits questions and issues as necessary.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including compensation, benefits, and leave.
  • Handles employee relation issues such as complaints, harassment allegations, and civil rights complaints.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and recommended best practices.
  • Maintains Human Resource Information System by entering new and updated employee information as required.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Management or Human Resources is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years HR experience preferred.
  • Must be highly customer service oriented and a team player.
  • Must be able to build productive relationships across all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • A mature walk with Jesus Christ and able to articulate Biblical beliefs and their application within the context of the Fresno Mission.
