About the position

The Human Resource Generalist position at ITW Food Equipment Group is a full-time role based in Troy, Ohio, specifically within the Hobart Warewash Division manufacturing facility. This position is integral to providing day-to-day professional HR support and policy administration to the business. The HR Generalist will report directly to the Plant HR Manager and will be responsible for a variety of functional areas including Payroll, Recruiting, Employee and Labor Relations, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), Benefits, Wellness, and Safety. This role is designed for a professional who can offer front-line advisory support in HR matters, ensuring compliance with legal standards and company policies. In this role, the HR Generalist will administer and process biweekly payrolls for the plant facility, manage the recruitment process for both full-time and temporary positions, and perform various human resource activities in accordance with established policies and procedures. The position requires the individual to maintain accurate applicant flow logs, coordinate onboarding and orientation processes for new employees, and ensure that employee-related data in HRIS is up-to-date. Additionally, the HR Generalist will prepare monthly safety reports, respond to inquiries regarding benefit programs, and assist in grievance investigations and labor negotiations preparation. The role also involves leading training and coordination of safety-related programs and managing various leave programs such as FMLA and STD. Candidates for this position should possess excellent communication skills, demonstrate good judgment, and have a strong customer service orientation. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, along with 2-4 years of experience in a Human Resources role, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of HR laws, payroll processing, and proficiency in HRIS systems, particularly Workday, are also essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and process biweekly payrolls for the plant facility.
  • Post open jobs and conduct pre-screening recruiting efforts for full-time and temporary help positions.
  • Perform various human resource activities according to established policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Recruit non-exempt roles including writing and posting ads, sourcing applicants, interviewing, and complying with recordkeeping requirements.
  • Provide support to the exempt-level recruiting process as required.
  • Maintain accurate applicant flow logs and collect data for the annual Affirmative Action Plan.
  • Coordinate onboarding and orientation processes for new employees.
  • Maintain accurate employee-related data in HRIS; attendance and safety records and other applicable systems/files.
  • Prepare monthly plant safety report.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding benefit programs, policy administration, and labor agreements.
  • Assist in gathering information for grievance investigations and labor negotiations preparation.
  • Lead training and coordination of safety-related programs including Respiratory Program; First Aid/CPR/AED, Safety Shoes and Glasses.
  • Coordinate various leave programs including FMLA and STD.
  • Assist and coordinate plant Wellness Programs, United Way campaign, and employee recognition programs.
  • Complete HR special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or similar field of study.
  • Associate's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration with equivalent experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a Human Resources role, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
  • Previous experience supporting a manufacturing facility, particularly in a unionized environment.
  • General knowledge of HR laws, including FMLA and HR compliance.
  • Payroll processing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and proficiency of HRIS, preferably Workday.
  • Strong technical skills/aptitude and proficiency in MS Office programs.
