About the position

The HR Generalist will be a key member of a small, collaborative HR team, responsible for supporting full HR administration, including talent acquisition, HRIS administration, compliance, and payroll management. This role also focuses on enhancing employee recognition, engagement, and retention activities, making it integral to the organization's HR functions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist operations with creating and posting job ads through Paylocity and other recruitment sources.
  • Manage onboarding of new employees through Paylocity.
  • Process background checks through Authentica.
  • Review requests from operations for employee changes (pay rate, position, termination).
  • Conduct weekly payroll review and processing administration for a portion of the organization.
  • Collect information from employee concerns and complaints, notifying the Director of HR and ensuring timely communication with all parties.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including the employee handbook.
  • Provide audit support for HR and Payroll related activities.
  • Manage record keeping for HR related documents and compliance.
  • Support obtaining various reports from Paylocity.
  • Act as an internal resource for employee benefits questions and resolve or consult with third-party benefit partners.
  • Administer Leave of Absence processes including FMLA, NYS PFL, Workers Comp, and Short- and Long-Term Disability claims.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of related experience and/or training in HR.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of current labor laws and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with Paylocity or similar HR/Payroll systems is ideal.
  • Ability to create and automate processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • SHRM or PHR certification is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented and process-minded approach.

  • Competitive salary range of $60,000 - $65,000 per year.
