About the position

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for managing day-to-day HR functions for a specified business unit, providing proactive HR consulting, guidance, and counsel to managers. This role includes overseeing talent acquisition, performance management, and compensation administration while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies. The position requires on-site work four days a week in either Woburn, MA or Glastonbury, CT.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Regional Human Resources Officer and legal counsel to ensure company compliance to all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Partner with management to resolve employee relations issues.
  • Provide effective coaching to managers on performance management and other HR related topics.
  • Manage HR Information system record changes.
  • Facilitate the coordination of training programs.
  • Effective onboarding of new hires.
  • Assist managers with Company performance and compensation management cycle. Educate employees and managers on the process.
  • Work with centralized benefits team in administration of employee leaves of absence. Administer workers' compensation claims.
  • Facilitate formal corrective actions up to and including terminations.
  • Manage employee off-boarding as necessary. Conduct exit interviews.
  • Partner with HR colleagues in rolling out company initiatives.

Requirements

  • 5 years + as Human Resources Generalist with a comprehensive understanding of HR practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field preferred.
  • Certification in Human Resources (PHR or SHRM-CP) preferred, but not required.
  • Competence in employee relations with strong communication skills.
  • Effective management of confidential information.
  • Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to make recommendations to resolve problems and ensure policies are upheld.
  • Must be successful working independently with limited supervision.
  • Proficient with internet-based programs and Microsoft Office products, including Excel. HRIS system experience preferred.
