About the position

As a Human Resource Generalist at Beacon Hill Hospitality, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the HR functions of our rapidly growing start-up. This position is designed for an experienced HR professional who is ready to take charge of the HR function independently. Your primary goal will be to establish best-in-industry practices that attract and retain top talent. You will be responsible for a wide range of HR activities, including recruitment, compliance, benefits administration, and training, ensuring that each day presents new challenges and opportunities for growth. In this fast-paced environment, you will be tasked with managing the recruitment process from start to finish. This includes posting job ads, conducting initial phone screens, and supporting hiring managers in selecting the best candidates. You will also work closely with new hires to ensure they complete all pre-employment requirements efficiently. Continuous improvement of the recruitment process will be a key focus, as you seek innovative ways to attract top talent quickly. Training and development will also be a significant part of your role. Collaborating with the VP of Operations, you will help design a comprehensive training program aimed at enhancing the skills and capabilities of our team members. You will be responsible for tracking compliance with both mandatory and non-mandatory training, ensuring that all employees have access to the resources they need to succeed. Additionally, you will handle various administrative HR tasks, ensuring that all documentation related to compensation, benefits, leave, and performance management is accurate and compliant with legal standards. Your expertise in human resources will be crucial as you stay updated on trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in the field. As the first point of contact for team members, you will provide exceptional service and support, addressing any questions or concerns they may have. Finally, as we expand our benefits offerings, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with state and federal laws while also bringing fresh ideas to enhance employee engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Post job ads and conduct initial phone screens for recruitment.
  • Support hiring managers in the hiring process of top talent.
  • Ensure completion of pre-employment requirements for new hires.
  • Continuously improve the recruitment process to attract top talent quickly.
  • Develop a comprehensive training program in collaboration with the VP of Ops.
  • Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training.
  • Ensure exceptional documentation and legal compliance for all HR-related matters.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends and best practices in Human Resources and employment law.
  • Act as the first point of contact for team members with questions or concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal laws regarding benefits administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least five years of HR experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient with or ability to quickly learn iSolved (HRIS system).
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite and Google Apps.

Nice-to-haves

  • SHRM certification is a plus.
