About the position

The HR Generalist will manage the daily functions of the Human Resources department for Powertrain Control Solutions (PCS), a growing company specializing in electronic control devices for military and industrial applications. This role involves establishing HR systems to facilitate growth and ensure compliance, working closely with a consultant to create effective HR processes.

Responsibilities

  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.
  • Conducts staff onboarding and processes criminal background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation, and maintains I-9 files.
  • Implements welcoming and organized new hire orientations.
  • Plans and schedules monthly company meetings with the President.
  • Facilitates all staff-related events, including holiday celebrations and retreats.
  • Supports the President in the development of safety training and initiatives.
  • Researches group professional development opportunities and training.
  • Sets up and implements training in partnership with departmental managers.
  • Administers insurance and retirement plans including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Reviews benefit invoices for accurate record-keeping and deductions.
  • Oversees time & attendance and paid leave requests for payroll.
  • Acts as a backup for payroll with the Bookkeeper.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings and investigations.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer human resource programs.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in human resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • At least three years of human resource experience required; five or more years preferred.
  • SHRM-CP certification is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Superb organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
