About the position

The Human Resource Generalist plays a crucial role in supporting the Human Resource Director by managing various HR functions, including employee relations, payroll administration, safety programs, and employee health and welfare benefits. This position requires maintaining compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards while ensuring a positive representation of the organization. The role involves updating personnel files, developing job descriptions, and participating in quality improvement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of HR in all aspects of Human Resources.
  • Update and maintain all employee personnel files (electronic personnel files).
  • Develop and maintain job descriptions with the assistance of the appropriate Director.
  • Maintain payroll and personnel changes in Lawson by accessing Service Now.
  • Comply with organizational and regulatory policies for handling confidential employee information.
  • Provide a positive and professional representation of the organization.
  • Maintain compliance with organization's policies, as well as established practices, protocols and procedures of the position, department and applicable professional standards.
  • Maintain competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends and developments in related scope of job role or practice.
  • Participate in ongoing quality improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field required.
  • Requires critical thinking skills.
  • Decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Previous experience required (2 years in an office setting, preferably Human Resources).
  • Ability to handle a multi-line phone system, good customer service skills, good oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work as a team in a busy Human Resources office required.
  • Must maintain confidentiality at all times.
