About the position

The Human Resources Generalist plays a crucial role in the management and operational functions of the HR Department at Christian Community Health Center. This position is responsible for overseeing various HR activities, including auditing, personnel management, employee benefits, employee relations, and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance. The HR Generalist will serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits, ensuring that all inquiries are addressed effectively and efficiently. This role requires a strong emphasis on organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills to support the HR Department and the workforce effectively. In addition to managing the new hire orientation process, the HR Generalist will prepare internal communications related to benefits and company policies, provide guidance to managers and supervisors, and ensure that employee files comply with federal and state laws. The position also involves credentialing and recredentialing of staff, representing the HR Department during audits, and conducting employee termination meetings when necessary. The HR Generalist will participate in various committees and assist in organizational training and development efforts, contributing to the overall strategic goals of the agency. The HR Generalist is expected to maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR practices and policies, ensuring that the ADP Homepage reflects the most relevant organizational information. In the absence of the HR Director, this position will lead the HR Department, demonstrating leadership and initiative in managing HR functions and supporting the agency's mission.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development and administration of HR programs, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Serve as the primary employee point of contact for inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and benefits.
  • Manage the new hire orientation process, including preparation, coordination, and conducting orientation sessions.
  • Prepare internal employee communications regarding benefits, compensation, or company policies as needed.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to managers and supervisors, referring them to the Director of HR as necessary.
  • Ensure employee files comply with federal and state laws and organizational standards.
  • Oversee the accuracy and maintenance of employee personnel and benefit files.
  • Responsible for credentialing and recredentialing of Non-Licensed Certified or Registered (NLCR) staff members.
  • Represent the agency during all audits, both internal and external.
  • Handle filing and data entry into HRIS for PACFs and Termination PACFs.
  • Create departmental memos regarding training, standard processes, and changes of status.
  • Process employee terminations, including exit interviews and benefits communication.
  • Advise managers on disciplinary actions and conduct termination meetings as needed.
  • Participate in committees as assigned or volunteered.
  • Conduct internal investigations as directed or in the absence of the Director of HR.
  • Prepare and submit departmental/statistical reports as assigned.
  • Assist in organizational training and development efforts.
  • Ensure the ADP Homepage is up-to-date with relevant information.
  • Act as a superuser for HRIS and lead the HR Department in the absence of the HR Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of HR experience in general HR operations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to create boundaries.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HRIS and ATS systems.
  • Knowledge of employee benefits administration.
