About the position

The Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) Manager at the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) is responsible for overseeing the HRIS operations, ensuring data integrity, enhancing user experience, and implementing system upgrades. This role involves assessing the needs of MDOT regarding business operations and system training, while also managing HRIS-related projects and providing support to HR teams.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the HRIS, ensuring effective functionality and performance.
  • Ensure the accuracy and security of employee data within the HRIS.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for HRIS-related inquiries, troubleshooting issues and providing timely support.
  • Establish and enforce standard operating procedures for HRIS usage.
  • Lead HRIS-related projects from conception to implementation, ensuring timelines and budgets are adhered to.
  • Configure HRIS to meet organizational needs, including setting up workflows, user permissions, and reporting capabilities.
  • Develop, generate, and analyze HR reports to provide insights on workforce metrics and trends.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of HRIS processes, workflows, and user guides.
  • Train HR staff and other users on HRIS functionalities, best practices, and new features.
  • Work closely with HR teams to understand their needs and ensure the HRIS supports their strategic objectives.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or Human Resource Management.
  • Seven (7) years of experience with HRIS implementation, administration, and project management in a leadership role.
  • Five (5) years of experience working with HR data analytics.
  • Experience working with Infor.
  • Strong understanding of HRIS database design, structure, functions, and processes.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing strategic solutions and business metrics.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially advanced proficiency in MS Excel.

Nice-to-haves
