About the position

The Human Resource Manager, Employee Relations position at Kohler is a hybrid role based in the Southeast US Region or Kohler, WI. Under the leadership of the Director of HR for K&B NA Operations, this role is pivotal in upholding the standards and values of the Kohler organization. The primary responsibility is to facilitate confidential and timely investigations, working closely with associates and leadership to understand and resolve workplace concerns. The HR Manager will leverage data to identify and address workforce trends while partnering with local HR to advise plant leadership on navigating employee relations (ER) issues and enhancing employee engagement. This role is also tasked with driving the execution of various human resources initiatives that align with the organization's objectives of being an Employer of Choice, as well as improving engagement and retention rates. Specific responsibilities include supporting US plants with employee relations investigations, particularly focusing on high-risk and leadership-related claims. The HR Manager will collaborate with the Kohler Ethics team to investigate ethics complaints and Code of Conduct violations, advising local HR and plant leadership on resolution actions based on investigation findings. The role requires capturing data, trends, and themes from ongoing ER work, providing regular insights and recommendations to HR leadership. Additionally, the HR Manager will utilize engagement surveys, stay/exit interviews, and turnover/absenteeism data to advise leadership on culture, work environment, and policies that may require adjustments. The HR Manager will also be responsible for advising and training managers and supervisors on ER best practices, evaluating culture, managing associate issues, and assisting with employee grievances. This position will partner with the Talent Management Center of Excellence to create and facilitate training aimed at leadership development and fostering a respectful workplace. Furthermore, the HR Manager will drive plant engagement strategies, collaborating closely with local HR and plant leadership to tailor plans according to specific plant needs and opportunities. The role may also involve collaboration with plant HR and legal teams on contract negotiations and grievances, as well as driving activities that align with necessary organizational changes. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support US plants with employee relations investigations, prioritizing high risk and leadership-related claims.
  • Partner with Kohler Ethics' team on investigating ethics complaints and Code of Conduct violations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in Human Resources or Employee Relations in Manufacturing (union & non-union; at least 5 years of union experience preferred).
  • SPHR certification or other advanced certification desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge and practical application of Federal, State, and local laws related to Human Resources.
  • Ability to develop strong, trusting relationships to gain support and achieve results.
  • Proactive with excellent planning, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
