About the position

Under the leadership of the Director HR, K&B NA Operations, the Human Resource Manager, Employee Relations is responsible for upholding the standards and values of the Kohler organization. This role involves facilitating confidential and timely investigations, working closely with associates and leadership to understand and resolve workplace concerns, and leveraging data to identify and address workforce trends. The HR Manager will partner with local HR to advise plant leadership on navigating employee relations issues and enhancing employee engagement. Additionally, this position will drive the execution of various human resources initiatives that enable the organization to meet its objectives related to being an Employer of Choice, as well as improving engagement and retention. The HR Manager will support US plants with employee relations investigations, prioritizing high-risk and leadership-related claims. They will collaborate with the Kohler Ethics team on investigating ethics complaints and Code of Conduct violations, advising and partnering with local HR and plant leadership on resolution actions related to investigation findings. The role requires capturing data, trends, and themes from ongoing employee relations work, providing regular insights and recommendations to HR leadership. Utilizing engagement surveys, stay/exit interviews, and turnover/absenteeism data, the HR Manager will advise leadership on culture, work environment, policies, and other associate impacts that may require adjustments or changes. Moreover, the HR Manager will advise and train managers and supervisors on employee relations best practices and strategies for evaluating culture, managing associate issues, and providing assistance with employee grievances. They will partner with the Talent Management Center of Excellence to create and/or facilitate training aimed at furthering leadership development and fostering a respectful workplace. The HR Manager will also drive the plant engagement strategy, collaborating closely with local HR and plant leadership to tailor plans according to specific plant needs and opportunities. This role may involve collaboration with plant HR and legal teams on contract negotiations and grievances, as well as driving activities and behaviors consistent with necessary organizational changes. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Supports US plants with employee relations investigations, prioritizing high risk and leadership-related claims.
  • Partners with Kohler Ethics' team on investigating ethics complaints and Code of Conduct violations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in Human Resources or Employee Relations in Manufacturing (union & non-union; highly preferred that you have at least 5 years of union experience).
  • SPHR certification or other advanced certification desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge and practical application of Federal, State, and local laws with a solid understanding of the general body of laws surrounding Human Resources.
  • Consistently display the highest degree of integrity, professionalism, diplomacy, and discretion.
  • Extensive knowledge of labor and employment law, and the ability to partner at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to develop strong, trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results.
  • Must be able to prioritize a variety of time sensitive tasks.
  • Proactive with excellent planning, analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
