About the position

The Human Resource Manager at Gerdau is responsible for administering and managing various HR processes, including employee relations, recruiting, wage and salary administration, training and development, and performance management. This role requires overseeing a significant number of employees and ensuring compliance with legal requirements while fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and manage HR processes covering employee relations, recruiting, wage and salary administration, training and development, and performance management.
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Conduct recruitment efforts for open positions and support hiring managers in the selection process.
  • Manage the recruitment process by assisting managers to define position requirements and potential sources of applicants.
  • Serve as a liaison on compensation and benefits issues.
  • Maintain job descriptions and evaluations on an accurate and current basis.
  • Ensure uniform interpretation and application of wage and salary policy to provide equitable employee compensation.
  • Communicate total compensation opportunities to employees and respond to related questions.
  • Identify training needs and work with the corporate training team to implement programs.
  • Coordinate employee communications to promote understanding of programs, policies, and objectives.
  • Recommend and coordinate employee engagement activities.
  • Ensure legal compliance with various governmental laws and regulations.
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Partner with management to conduct performance evaluations and coordinate performance reviews.
  • Advise supervisors and managers on employee grievances, discipline, and related problems in union locations.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues in nonunion locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in human resources management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong conflict management skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports and legal documents.
  • Excellent consulting, client management, and business literacy skills.

  • Graduate degree and/or PHR/SPHR certification preferred.
