About the position

Thrive Foods, a rapidly growing freeze-dried manufacturing company, is seeking a Human Resource Manager for its Oak Creek, Wisconsin facility. This position is crucial for leading and directing the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department. The HR Manager will report directly to the Director of Employee Relations and will be responsible for a variety of HR functions including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay and leave of absence, and enforcing company policies and practices. The HR Manager will play a key role in shaping the organization's human resource and talent strategy, particularly in relation to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning. In this role, the HR Manager will partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource strategy. They will provide support and guidance to the HR Assistant, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise. This may include administering and executing routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and managing terminations. The HR Manager will also oversee the talent acquisition process, which includes recruitment, interviewing, and hiring qualified job applicants, while collaborating with departmental managers to understand the skills and competencies required for openings. Additionally, the HR Manager will work closely with the Corporate Learning and Development Manager to create programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees. They will oversee employee relations activities and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as recommended best practices. Staying informed about trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and innovative technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law is essential for this role. The HR Manager will also perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the HR department and the organization as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy, particularly regarding current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Provide support and guidance to HR Assistant, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise.
  • Manage the talent acquisition process, including recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Create programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees in partnership with the Corporate Learning and Development Manager.
  • Oversee employee relations activities.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and innovative technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • A minimum of five years of human resource management experience strongly preferred in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written communication forums.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Consistent attendance with the ability to work on-site.
