About the position

The Human Resource Specialist at Kansas City Public Schools is responsible for supporting the leadership team in developing and executing HR staffing plans. This role involves performing professional HR work across various functional areas, including workforce staffing, talent acquisition, training and development, and compensation administration. The specialist will provide support and advice to school leaders and department managers on HR issues, ensuring compliance with district policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and execution of HR staffing plans.
  • Perform professional level HR work across several functional areas.
  • Provide support to workforce staffing, talent acquisition, training and development, and compensation administration.
  • Advise school leaders and department managers on HR issues.
  • Enter new hire information into the HRIS and maintain accurate employee records.
  • Support documentation processes for employees, including life event changes and record updates.
  • Respond to general inquiries with a high level of customer service.
  • Assist with HR events such as Service Awards and Retiree programs.
  • Support recruiting during high volume periods and assist with job description maintenance.
  • Administer various HR functions according to district policy and regulations.
  • Identify and coordinate the resolution of HR-related issues and concerns.
  • Communicate with the public and employees regarding HR matters.
  • Coordinate and document employment processes in compliance with regulations.
  • Provide technical expertise on HR policies and procedures.
  • Respond to inquiries from internal and external sources to resolve problems.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience supporting a Human Resources department.
