About the position

The Human Resource Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting various aspects of Human Resources, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and compliance with HR policies. This position is integral in fostering a positive work environment, managing employee performance, and ensuring adherence to regulations while promoting diversity and inclusion within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a resource for all employees providing answers to HR-related questions.
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation for Employee Handbook policies and procedures.
  • Assist in resolving employee complaints and policy violations, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management.
  • Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships and increase productivity.
  • Attend offsite recruiting events and career fairs to promote the Diversity and Inclusion Program.
  • Manage the college internship program, including onboarding and exit processes.
  • Post internal and external job openings on the company website, ensuring accuracy of job descriptions.
  • Coordinate and participate in internal and external interviews for open positions.
  • Prepare job offer letters and organizational announcements for promotions.
  • Ensure pre-employment physical and background checks are completed timely.
  • Support the onboarding process in the HRIS system and conduct New Employee Orientation.
  • Coordinate mandatory training for new employees and maintain training records in the LMS system.
  • Participate in exit interviews and maintain personnel files.
  • Assist with HR compliance audits and monitor time records for payroll accuracy.
  • Support the Benefit and Leave Program Manager with Workers' Compensation and return to work programs.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and make recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience in HR.
  • Five or more years of experience in Human Resource functions, preferably in an industrial environment.
  • Experience with high-volume recruiting or Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and Learning Management Systems (LMS) is preferred.
  • Human Resources Certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of recruiting laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 products including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Working knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a high-volume recruiting environment.
  • Familiarity with industrial safety regulations and practices.
