About the position

The Human Resource Specialist position at the Florida Department of Health is responsible for providing technical assistance and support in the Benefits section. The role involves maintaining knowledge of Florida Statutes and personnel rules, assisting employees with state group insurance and retirement benefits, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and policies. The incumbent will perform various human resource functions, including certifying retirement documents and delivering training presentations.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to supervisors, managers, and staff regarding Florida Statutes and personnel rules.
• Assist employees with inquiries related to state group insurance and retirement benefits.
• Certify retirement documents and process contribution adjustments and invoices.
• Perform premium administration activities related to insurance, including initiating payments and refunds.
• Deliver training presentations for employees on benefits-related topics.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with the People First system in an HR capacity.
• Knowledge of Microsoft applications software.
• Knowledge of State of Florida Personnel Rules and applicable Florida Statutes.
• Ability to interpret, apply, and communicate human resource management statutes and policies.
• Knowledge of methods of data collection and analysis.
• Ability to prepare reports related to human resource management functions.
