About the position

As a Human Resources Specialist in an Army Reserve Battalion or an equivalent size unit, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing personnel records and actions. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting thorough analyses of military personnel records to ensure compliance with Army and United States Army Reserve Command (USARC) requirements. You will be tasked with identifying program deficiencies and making informed recommendations for resolution. This position requires a keen eye for detail as you will review and process military personnel records through various automated systems, ensuring that all actions are in line with established regulations and standards. In addition to record management, you will monitor compliance with personnel readiness and assist in the review of unit status reports. Providing guidance to supported units on the administrative aspects of military personnel management programs will be a key part of your role. You will also be responsible for developing unit administrative actions, which include drafting military correspondence, reports, military orders, and personnel actions. Your ability to prepare and deliver briefings will be essential, as you will provide management with updates concerning the status of military personnel actions and program requirements, aiding in the decision-making process. This position requires active membership as a soldier in the U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) and may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination based on a completed background investigation. You will need to demonstrate your eligibility through various employment authority categories, and your experience and qualifications will be evaluated based on the specific requirements outlined in the job description.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analysis of military personnel records for appropriate documentation and adherence to Army and USARC requirements.
  • Identify program deficiencies and make recommendations for resolution.
  • Review and process military personnel records and actions through various automated systems.
  • Monitor compliance with regulations and personnel readiness.
  • Assist in the review of unit status reports.

Requirements

  • Active membership as a soldier in the U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) is required.
  • One year of specialized experience interpreting and providing guidance on personnel policies and procedures, processing personnel or pay actions, and conducting staff inspections to ensure unit readiness.
  • Master's or equivalent graduate degree in Human Resource Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or Management, or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.
  • A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position.
