About the position

The Human Resource Specialist (Military) position within the Department of Defense involves serving as a key HR professional in an Army Reserve Battalion. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with military personnel management programs, analyzing records, and providing guidance to units on administrative matters. The specialist will be responsible for processing personnel records, monitoring readiness, and preparing briefings for management regarding personnel actions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Human Resources Specialist in an Army Reserve Battalion or equivalent size unit.
  • Conduct analysis of records for appropriate documentation and adherence to Army and USARC requirements.
  • Identify program deficiencies and make recommendations for resolution.
  • Review and process military personnel records and actions through various automated systems.
  • Monitor compliance with regulations, personnel readiness, and assist in the review of unit status reports.
  • Provide guidance to supported units on administrative aspects of military personnel management programs.
  • Develop unit administrative actions, such as military correspondence, reports, military orders, and personnel actions.
  • Prepare briefings to provide management concerning the status of military personnel actions and program requirements.

Requirements

  • Active membership as a soldier in the U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) is required.
  • One year of specialized experience in HR, including interpreting personnel policies, processing personnel actions, and conducting staff inspections.
  • Master's degree or equivalent graduate education in Human Resource Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or Management may substitute for experience.
  • Combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position.
