About the position

The Human Resource Specialist (Military) position within the Department of Defense is responsible for managing and advising on administrative matters related to military personnel actions. This role involves ensuring compliance with regulations, reviewing personnel-related correspondence, and advising commanders and staff on various administrative issues. The specialist will also conduct staff visits, maintain logs of reports, and formulate administrative plans and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Review all administrative and military personnel related correspondence.
  • Ensure that reports are prepared in proper format and contain required information.
  • Ensure compliance with administrative regulations and procedures.
  • Advise the Commander, staff, and subordinate units on administrative matters pertaining to all types of military personnel actions.
  • Review incoming regulations and directives relating to administration and military personnel programs, functions, and procedures.
  • Continually keep abreast of current regulatory requirements and developments in processing military personnel and pay actions.
  • Conduct periodic and special staff visits to subordinate units.
  • Review studies/proposals pertaining to the Evaluation Systems for Reserve Component personnel.
  • Maintain suspense logs of recurring and one-time reports.
  • Distribute to appropriate staff elements and subordinate units, retaining administrative and personnel materials for appropriate action.
  • Formulate administrative estimates, plans, orders, and reports.

Requirements

  • Active membership as a soldier in the U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) is required.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • One year of specialized experience in reviewing and evaluating proposed military personnel policies and practices, processing personnel actions, and establishing personnel records, or a Master's degree in a relevant field.
