About the position

The Human Resource Specialist - Total Reward position within the Utah Division of Human Resource Management focuses on employee compensation, job classification, and benefits. The role involves assisting the Total Rewards team in implementing, tracking, and optimizing pay-for-performance programs for over 22,000 state employees, while ensuring compliance with federal and state HR laws and internal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Total Rewards team with employee compensation, job classification, and benefits administration.
  • Implement, track, and optimize pay-for-performance programs for state employees.
  • Gather and analyze data related to compensation and benefits.
  • Write job descriptions and establish job series and hierarchies.
  • Maintain knowledge of employee benefit administration including medical, dental, life insurance, and retirement.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in pay for performance, data gathering and analysis, employee compensation, job classification, and employee benefit administration.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven professional human resources experience or equivalent education and experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of HRIS systems and software such as Google and Microsoft Office suites.
  • Preference for current Department of Government Operations employees.
