About the position

The Human Resource Specialist at New Jersey Reentry Corporation is responsible for a variety of HR functions including recruitment, employee relations, and benefits management. This role involves coordinating employee activities, conducting training, and ensuring compliance with HR laws and regulations. The specialist will serve as a key point of contact for employees and management, facilitating effective communication and support in HR matters.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for recruiting, conducting background and reference checks, drafting offer and separation letters, and other internal communication.
  • Coordinates and/or conducts employee-relations activities including employee counseling, interpretation of policies, new employee orientation, and conducting exit interviews.
  • Assist with employee manuals, performance evaluation forms and process, and other materials related to HR administration.
  • Manage all employee benefit enrollments and terminations, as well as COBRA.
  • Assist with employee training programs and facilitate training.
  • Administer the Learning Management System, ensuring that assigned training is being completed timely.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding the organization's processes, policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with management staff, guiding them through recruitment, performance counseling, employee relations, policy interpretation and implementation.
  • Develop effective relationships with the employee workforce, assisting employees with day-to-day human resource matters.
  • Be a point of contact for all issues related to hiring, terminations, promotions, and employee job-related issues.
  • Maintain and audit all employee files including Personnel, Medical, and I9 Compliance.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • HR Certification is a plus.
  • Associate's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of HR laws and regulations.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
  • Creative, flexible, and innovative team player.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.

Benefits

  • Starting salary is $50,000, negotiable.
